Spray Painting & Fabrication Support Operator
Salary: £9.80/hour Location: Droylsden, Borough of Tameside Hours: Full Time

Our client based in the Droyslden area is currently recruiting for a Spray Painting & Fabrication Support Operator to work on a 6 month contract.

General Duties Include:

Preparation of materials for fabrication, cutting of metals, threading pipe work, deburring and polishing of parts, cleaning of work areas, operation of automatic saws, drills, pipe threading equipment. Supporting welding operations and paint processes, packing of components. Any other duties where required.
Production Operations:

Wet paint spraying of product, using two pack paints.
General deburring / polishing of fabricated parts using a variety of techniques; shot blasting, manual fettling, sanding, pillar drill, grinding.
Producing parts to drawing and within agreed specifications / tolerances.
Produce components to an agreed schedule of works orders.
Verifies settings by measuring sample work pieces; adhering to standards.
Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements that are detailed by production engineering, following the manufacturer’s instructions.
Handling of heavy sheet steels, bar stock in the assembly process and of fabricated steel products.

Applying two pack paints to products and components.
Maintenance of spray booth and spraying equipment.
Producing pipe work assemblies, including cutting and threading of pipe.
Using mechanical saw, pillar drills, hose cutting equipment in the manufacture of components and assemblies.
Loading and unloading materials on to plasma cutting equipment.
Handling assemblies on and off the conveyor system.
Testing of products and assemblies using pressurised test equipment.
Supporting the welding processes and painting processes.
Operation of lifting equipment and handling aids.
Control the raw material stock.
Health and Safety:

Comply with company H&S procedures, legislation and safe systems of work.
Ensure you work safely and maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Identify any hazards, make safe and report.
Correct use and storage of PPE and RPE issued.

Must be literate and numerate.

Maths & English – GCSE or equivalent.

Experience in mechanical assembly.


Use of manual machine tools (pillar drill).

Experience of working within a disciplined ISO 9000 environment.

Interpreting drawings.

Engineering changes.

Health and Safety.

Computing skills

Computer literacy.

The working hours will be 37.5 per week. (Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm and Friday: 8:00am – 1:30pm).
